Our Mission

Building Better Lives For American Disabled Veterans

Formed in 1920 and Chartered by Congress in 1932, the million member D.A.V. is the official voice of America’s service connected disabled veterans, their families and survivors. Its nation wide network of services – free of charge to all veterans and members of their families, is totally supported by membership dues and contributions from the American public. Not a government agency, the D.A.V. receives no government funds.

The D.A.V. is a nonprofit association of nearly 1.2 million veterans who have suffered some degree of disability while serving in a time of war or armed conflict. The association founded in 1920 by the disabled veterans of World War I is totally funded by dues and contributions from the American public. We receive no federal funding.

The D.A.V. is a nonpolitical organization. We endorse no political candidates and we have no P.A.C.’s. Our National Headquarters are in Cincinnati and Washington and our State Headquarters is in Micanopy, Florida.. More than 98% of the D.A.V. professional and management staff are disabled in some way shape or form themselves. Our focus is to serve veterans and their families. To help empower the veteran and their families to build a better lives for Disabled American Veterans.

DAV Chapter Meeting - Chaplain's Prayer

"God be merciful unto us, and bless us.  Cause Your Face to shine upon us that Your way may be known upon earth, and Thy saving strength among all people.  Let the people be glad and sing for joy, You shalt judge them righteously, and govern the Nations upon earth.  Especially do we pray that we may have Your guidance to the end that we may each of us firmly uphold the great principles of this organization.  Amen."

"May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and now onto the Eternal and All-wise Creator of the Universe, and Preserver of our Nation, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen."
